Patrick Cote To Fight In February

By: Kris Karkoski | Nov 4, 2007

Patrick CotePatrick Cote has announced that he will return to the octagon in February, likely on the February 2nd UFC 81 card. The event, which will take place the night before Super Bowl XLII, could be headlined by a light heavyweight title bout featuring Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and is also expected to include the UFC debut of former professional wrestler turned mixed martial artist Brock Lesnar.

Cote’s opponent has not yet been named.

Cote (11-4 MMA, 2-4 UFC) has emerged as a middleweight contender by winning his last three fights including his most recent win over rising middleweight and The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner Kendall Grove at UFC 74 in August. After starting his career as a successful light heavyweight Cote has since moved to the middleweight division capturing numerous championships in other promotions. He is currently the reigning TKO Middleweight Champion, winning the title with a TKO victory over Jason Day in June.

holy_dave that sounds like a really good idea, but I wouldn’t mind a Cote vs. Quarry match-up.

Cote’ could fight anybody in that division. I think since the pool of middleweights is so shallow, he could get a title shot with another victory. They are going to have to let non-top ten contenders have a shot at Silva until he has a check mark by every name in the division.
