At the post-UFC 78 press conference the traditional bonuses for Knockout of the Night, Submission of the Night, and Fight of the Night were announced. The four fighters who were awarded the bonuses will receive an additional $55,000:

Submission of the Night: Akihiro Gono earned the submission of the night bonus for his armbar submission of Tamdan McCrory in round two of their preliminary bout.

Knockout of the Night: Ed Herman’s knockout of 50-fight veteran Joe Doerksen early in round number three earned him an additional $55,000.

Fight of the Night: Chris Lytle and Thiago Alves were each awarded $55,000 for their controversial but exciting fight which ended by doctor stoppage at the end of round two due to a cut Lytle received above his eye.

Herman deserves Knockout of the Night. His knockout of Doerkson was crazy!!!

I think it’s sad that not only was the fight of the night on the undercard but also that it was a fight that had to be stopped after only 2 rounds.

I have been b****ing about the Lytle/Alves fight since Saturday.

Add me to the Lytle/Alves b**** list. That was a great fight, and didnt need to be stopped! Lytle has to be one of the most hard luck fighters in the UFC. So many poor decisions, the lack of standups in the Huges lay-n-pray fight, now this.
At least they are giving him the fight of the night nod for some extra $$. The guy is really a classy fighter.

Where are the fighter salaries from UFC 78. I’ve seen the bonuses but not the salaries, what’s up wit dat???

  • Vampslayr said:

The state of New Jersey considers it confidential and makes it a policy to not release fighter salaries. Other states where the UFC fights regularily (Nevada, California & Ohio) do release the salaries.

ahhhhh I see now, thanks for clearing that up for me.
