Houston Alexander Returns At UFC Fight Night 13

29 January 2008 15 Comments

Hard hitting Houston Alexander is slated to face off against James Irvin at UFC Fight Night 13 according to MMAJunkie. The bout was originally rumored to take place in England at UFC 83, an event which has since been called off by the UFC.

In addition to the Alexander-Irvin fight, the lightweight match between Clay Guida and Sammy Schiavo was also confirmed to take place at UFC Fight Night 13. After trouncing Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara, Houston Alexander (8-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) will be looking to bounce back after his TKO loss to Thiago Silva at UFC 78. James Irvin (13-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) is coming off of a default victory over Luis Cane at UFC 79, where he was hit with an illegal knee to the head while down, forcing his opponent to be disqualified. Between all of the booked and rumored talent for UFC Fight Night 13, the show could easily prove to be more worthwhile than your run-of-the-mill UFC pay-per-view.

Here’s the current rumored fight card for the event:

  • Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon
  • Stephan Bonnar vs. Matt Hamill
  • Karo Parisyan vs. Thiago Alves
  • Houston Alexander vs. James Irvin
  • Clay Guida vs. Sammy Schiavo
  • Spencer Fisher vs. Marcus Aurelio
  • Tommy Speer vs. Anthony Johnson
  • Din Thomas vs. Josh Neer
  • Frankie Edgar vs. TBD

Way better than the UFC 80 card. Can’t wait to see this. Houston Alexander vs. James Irvin should be a slugfest for a minute or two.

This is a great fight night card, and Frankie Edgar fighting also. This is way better than some of the planned PPV events.

This is definitely PPV worthy! They rarely stack cards anymore (although 2008 looks promising), but this card is crazy!!

this is a stacked card shame we wont be able to watch it in the uk my picks for the fights are:

    lauzon
    bonnar
    parisyan
    alexander
    schiavo
    fisher
    speer
    thomas
and i’ll go blind an say edgar will win who ever he fights, he who dares wins haha

  • Lowcash said:

johnboy - You and I are on the same page with everything except Schiavo. I think (hope) Guida wins.

I can’t believe they don’t some how make this available in the UK, or elsewhere.

This is going to be an absolutely amazing fight night. My only complaint is that half of the fights won’t be televised unless the main card has some quick finishes. Luckily with Alexander fighting there’s a good chance of that.

this card is sick and it had betta b wit the ppv price goin up 5 bux they betta stack these fight nights like crazy from now on

Lauzon vs Florian too tough to call

i say Hammil comes out and goes crazy to remind people how he won the bisping fight

F*** karo duckin Fitch I hope alves beats him

while at ufc 78 i thought the shots tiago silva was raining down were missing and i was yelling booo bad stoppage until i watched the replay on the big screen and saw nebraska(alexander) was gettin f***ed up by brazil(silva) so hopefully Alexander will come back strong

    Shiavo is a beast

Fisher got owned by edgar at 78 he should comeback with a vengence

i dont care who wins speer vs johnson i just wanna see if speer left the farm and started acctually trainin like an mma fighter

    Din should win this one

and ill also take edgar blind hes another animal at 155

Lowcash- i like guida too but i watched this shiavo guys highlight reel(youtube it) and if shiavo doesnt knock him out with that nasty right i see this being another tyson griffin vs guida wit crazy ground action and i give the advantage to shiavo there but it should b a crazy energy packed fight

You know - since they are doing a bunch more this yr for the UFC - why doesn’t Dana pull some deal with Spike so that they can air this entire card?! I mean, hell…add another hr..1.5 hrs so we can see it! I’m sure Spike would jump at the chance to add onto their best programming instead of reruns of whatever crap they have! How can you determine who not to show on tv?!?! I guess I can see Speer…Din Thomas…and maybe Spencer’s fights not to be shown…but they have to show Edgar since he is very hot right now… obviouly they will show florian, hammil, alexander and karo…and with all the hype on schiavo..and the new love for guida…that HAS to be shown….so come on dana….put the whole card on tv!!!

Whats the deal with the official site taking Parisyan Alvez off of the picture…if they remove that fight from the card it would be a travesty.

  • Kris said:

Zac, I personally never even saw it listed yet on UFC.com. It went out in the email so unless something changed I think it’s a matter of them not putting it on their website yet.
