Rich Franklin: I Have Not Signed To Fight Anyone

By: Kris Karkoski | Dec 19, 2007

Rich Franklin has posted the following on his official website, RichFranklin.com, disputing reports that he will be fighting in March at UFC 82 in Columbus, Ohio:

I am told there are rumors of me fighting multiple people in March. I have not signed for a fight in March. I don’t believe that I am allowed to fight more than once in a night. I hope this clears up any confusion. I have not signed to fight anyone in March, or any other month.

Rumors surfaced yesterday indicating Franklin had agreed to take on Travis Lutter at UFC 82.

Frank, I’ll be in the loge seat to the left of Eddie George’s. Since you aren’t fighting, stop over and I’ll buy ya’ a beer.

I wonder how Franklin can come back from the two devestating losses to Silva? In my eyes, even if Henderson takes the title Franklin doesn’t deserve a shot at it for quite some time. I would think he’d need to win 4 or 5 in a row before deserving another shot. He just got beat down too badly.

Danny Boy, you’re right that Rich got beat down badly twice, but keep in mind that the same is happening to whoever is stepping in that ring against the Spider. Rich dominated that weightclass before Silva showed up and he’s still hovering at the top.
